Background:  The City of Wadsworth, Ohio was upgrading their public safety communications systems to include their police department and their fire department, and had been told there were no channels available in the UHF band to allow them to build and operate UHF repeaters.

Here are the best choices. It doesn't look like there are any acceptable wide band channels ... as we suspected.

Below is a list of the channels that look like they will work. This list is made up of the available frequency, the authorized coordinator, and the distance from nearest co-channel users. I've attached an xls file that has all the details.

My recommendations are in bold. Please monitor them for repeater use, and I'll get an STA immediately if they are acceptable.

We filed an STA (Special Temporary Authority) to "hold" the channels, and allow them to construct their system while their regular license application was being granted.  The STA was granted under the callsign WQBP630 (local copy)

 

The regular license was granted on March 29th, 2005 under the callsign WQCK949 (local copy)

 

***
